The guest speaker will be Clay Nelson, co-founder and principal of Sustainable Stables, LLC.  Clay has helped horse farm owners across the country advance their operations in a more sustainable direction.  This portion will provide our members with information about tax incentives, grants and funding that may help them pay for "green" improvements to their farms.  Topics will include:

  • Eligibility requirements for state and federal agricultural cost share programs to fund "best management practices" (BMPs) on horse farms.
  • Challenges related to cost share funding for horse farms compared to traditional livestock operations, and how to best position your farm for funding.
  • Grant programs and tax incentives to assist with implementation of BMPs, renewable energy systems, and land conservation.
